Library/Technology
Overview
The Information Services Department is comprised of librarians and technology facilitators working together to provide resources and tools for students and teachers. Goals for this team include teaching information literacy skills, supporting the meaningful integration of technology into the curriculum, and preparing students to become accomplished researchers who are confident and ethical users of information and technology.
Lower School Library
The Lower School Library serves preschool through fifth grade students. All students visit the library weekly for literature read-aloud sessions, book talks, and browsing opportunities. Students also receive instruction about locating and evaluating resources to solve their information needs. The Lower School Computer Lab, situated next to the Library, allows students access to those developmentally appropriate online resources needed to complete assignments. We strongly encourage students to become avid readers who apply their information-seeking skills to find answers.
The Lower School library sponsors visiting authors and illustrators at various times throughout the school year to inspire and support the love of literature. There is an annual Book Fair and sponsored by both Lower and Middle/Upper School Libraries in November as well as a Used Book Fair in February. Friends of the Library are invited to donate birthday books to honor their child, to commemorate special events, or to express appreciation for a significant teacher.
Middle/Upper School Library
The Middle and Upper School Library strives to maintain an atmosphere that encourages serious study and promotes leisure reading. Students regularly receive group instruction about selecting, evaluating and citing information sources from online databases as well as traditional resources. The librarian and teacher work together to encourage students to develop advanced research skills through curriculum-based assignments. Students utilize the computer lab in the library as well as their divisional computer lab to complete research. The technology facilitator for each division serves as an active partner to advise and teach those skills needed to complete assignments.

Technology
The availability and use of technology in our ever-expanding digital learning environment is crucial for our students and faculty. Our goal is for our students to acquire strong computing skills, demonstrate ethical use of information, and be successful users of information.
We have a strong, reliable network with fiber-optic Gigabit connections between data closets, a dedicated computer room for each division as well as a computer room in the library. Forty one classrooms have mounted Smart Boards, projectors, VCR/DVD players and all teachers have laptops.
