Transportation

As the Lancaster Country Day School community has expanded, it has been enriched by the diversity of its student body. LCDS serves students from Lancaster and five surrounding counties. Area public school districts are required by law to provide free transportation to private schools within a ten-mile radius of the school (11 of the 16 Lancaster County districts meet this requirement - click on map).

While students traveling from Chester, Lebanon and York counties currently rely on family carpooling, bus transportation is available for a fee from Berks County and Dauphin County. The Berks bus serves students from all of its county school districts as well as students living in northern Lancaster County along the Route 222 corridor. The Dauphin bus serves students from Harrisburg, Hershey, Hummelstown, and Middletown as well as students living in western Lancaster County along the Route 283 corridor.

The school will initiate bus service from Chester, Lebanon or York at a time when there are enough enrolled students from that county to make the per-student charge affordable and reasonable.
